Personal Childhood Web

The five people who nurtured and care about me:

My mother influenced my life by teaching me right from wrong. My mother nurtured me by building my self esteem. My mother cared by keeping me safe from harm and danger. My mother made me feel special organizing creative birthday parties for me.
My father influenced me by setting positive examples. My father nurtured me by supporting my imagination. My father showed how he cared by playing games and participating in my activities. My father made me feel special by showing interest in my school work and school activities.
My grandmother influenced me by encouraging good behavior. My grandmother nurtured me by encouraging my curiosity. My grandmother made me feel special by always preparing my favorite meals.
My grandfather influenced me by rewarding good behavior. My grandfather nurtured me by supporting my innovation. My grandfather cared by picking me up from after school activities. My grandfather made me feel special by taking me to any fun place of my choice.

  1. Hi Melinda, it sounds as if we had almost the same support system growing up. A mother, father and grandparents that loved and nurtured us into the adults we are today. Yes we are special, you know a lot of our children that we teach in today's society don't have the support system that we had back then. With my up bringing and loving attitude I have for children, I know my Safe Place that I want as a business will help a lot of hurting children. Some don't have a clue about what it is to be loved and nurtured by family members.

  2. Hi Melinda,
How wonderful to read about your support system growing up. It truly "takes a village". My parents and grandparents all held special roles in my life as well.

  3. I enjoyed reading your childhood web! As you experienced it is very important for mothers to teach self-esteem and worth at any early age. Like you, I too could always rely on my grandfather for rewards and recognition, which I think is a very vital part of a child's upbringing. Constantly letting a child know how special they are can mean the world to that child, ultimately inspiring them to be better and succeed. I'm glad you were blessed enough to grow up with a strong support system and I can only image how proud they must be. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful childhood web with the world.
